Best Editing in the 48 Hour Guerrilla Film Competition!

By Brett on 06-14-11 - Featured,Shorts

We have exciting news! Those of you that have been following our Twitter and Facebook are most likely aware of this but we’re finally making the official announcement. I’m sure many of you remember we recently participated in the 48 Hour Guerrilla Film Competition. In this competition, filmmakers must write, shoot and edit a 5-7 minute movie in 48 hours. At the start time you’re presented with a line of dialogue and a genre that you must follow and all movies must include a 3 second or so shot that lets people know where you’re from.

Our entry was “Press Start” and it was a video game movie. Our line of dialogue was “Earth, United States, San Francisco, California.” We had an absolute blast creating this movie and if you want to read all the details behind it check out one of our previous posts about making the film.

This past weekend the 48 Hour GFC hosted a film festival premiere in Sarasota, FL. All films were showcased in six theaters early Saturday morning and that evening the awards ceremony took place. That whole night we were refreshing our phones trying to see if we won (we couldn’t make it out to Florida). Sadly we didn’t get the grand prize but we did win Best Editing!

Austin Morales, one of the co-founders of Infused Films, was the primary editor. He worked several hours while we were getting the final shots and worked well into the night editing it. I (Brett Yanoski) created the graphics and the animated effects such as the health bars and things like that. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun and it clearly paid off!

Thank you to everyone who helped out on the project and to everyone for supporting us during the course of the competition. We couldn’t have done it without you! We are currently editing Shattered Reflections and should have further information on that soon so stay tuned.

Help us Win the People’s Choice Award!

By Brett on 05-28-11 - Shorts

To the wonderful community of Infused Films, your time has come to show your dedication to the cause. It is time to rise up and take control of your destiny and show the world that you can make a difference.

A few weeks back we participated in a 48 hour Guerrilla Film Contest. A new award was announced last week: The People’s Choice Award.

The idea is simple. There are about 100-150 videos in the running for this contest. All the videos have been uploaded to YouTube by the festival coordinators. In the next few weeks our goal is to get as many views as humanly possible on our video. If we have the highest views we win $1000. A whole grand to put towards our next major film.

Here is what I want you to do.

  1. Watch the video. It’s awesome.
  2. Share the YouTube link I provide below with AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN! I don’t care if they are friends, family, co-workers or complete strangers…ok well maybe not complete strangers, but you get the idea.

My goal is to have 2500 views by the end of this Memorial Day weekend. I think we can do it, we have 180 or so. Thank you my friends and remember…

SHARE, SHARE SHARE!

Shattered Reflections Cast Profile: Devon, James and Celeste

By Brett on 05-21-11 - Shorts

After that crazy long weekend of filming the 48 hour contest, I didn’t think i’d ever get around to writing anything again! This week I’m bringing to you awesome people THREE cast profiles. Yes, 3 for the price of 2! These three are not only great actors and actresses but have also been a great help on set and in obtaining locations etc. Here they are!

Lance Broadway

Lance will be playing the role of Devon Stephenson, the husband of Kaitlin, our main character.

Raised in the town of Grand Prairie, TX, Lance Broadway is best known for his role as a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox. It was his time in New York, however, while playing with the Mets that he discovered a passion for acting. He recently transitioned from seasoned baseball player to actor by performing in an exposure showcase which led to several independent and industrial films. His onscreen finesse quickly resulted in an agency contract and several projects in development.

48 Hour Film Guerrilla Film Competition + First Production Still!

By Brett on 05-15-11 - Featured,Making Of

Wow. What a weekend it’s been.

A few weeks ago Austin came to me with an idea to join this 48 hour film competition. It is a global competition this year and will have 17 participating countries. The task? Write, shoot, edit and export a 5-7 minute short film in 48 hours. The only thing you’re allowed to do before the time begins is secure locations, secure cast members and get props. There is a catch however. You do not know what you are writing about until you click the start button, which begins your 48 hours. Therefore no planning for the film can be made in advance.  Here is a little bit of a rundown of the weekend we just endured.

On friday at approximately 3:17 PM we hit the start button. Our genre given was “disaster” and our line of dialog we had to use in the film was “Earth, United States, San Francisco, California.” You can’t break that up. Seriously. It must be read exactly as it’s shown. So we (well the rest of the crew, I wasn’t off work until 5pm) got started on brainstorming ideas. Around 7pm during a dinner meeting we realized that shooting a movie about a major disaster would be near impossible to make look good so we hit the danger bucket.

What is the danger bucket you may ask? It is a bucket that gives you a new genre! However the new genre is supposed to be more specific…a bit more out of the box and it certainly was but for us it was perfect.

Video game movie.

So off we went, excited about our new genre and ready to make a great story. 11 hours later from hitting the start button we had a finished script, locations secured and actors ready to go.
